The admission process For admission at Norwegian universities and colleges as a Norwegian resident, you must meet the minimum requirements for Higher Education Entrance Qualification and fulfill the language requirements in Norwegian and English. For admission to some programs of study you will need subjects or courses from upper secondary school or relevant work experience in addition to the general entrance requirements. Some courses have entrance tests, see lists of all specific requirements, colleges and universities at www.samordnaopptak.no For more specific information regarding each institution, have a look at the admission offices at NTNU`s office of international relations, HiST’s admission office or DMMH’s department for information on admission and studies. Student finances As a Norwegian student by an approved educational institution, you are eligible for a student loan by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen). If you are a foreign student, your right to financial support from Lånekassen depends on your connection to Norway, which country you come from and on what grounds you have a residence permit. To see if you are eligible for financial support from Lånekassen, click here. There are also loads of international and private funds and scholarships for students both home and abroad. The different funds and scholarships may require different things, as they are often established on an ideal to stimulate and support students in different fields and areas. Check out http://studyinnorway.no/Tuition-Scholarships/Scholarships for more information, but also check out your home institution as this varies from country to country. Education abroad There are many different opportunities for Norwegian students to go abroad for one or several semesters during your studies. For international students it may not be that easy to go through an international program on the institution that is already part of an international program at your home institution but there are ways. Each institution has their own programs and range of agreements throughout the world, check out your institution for further information on your own possibilities. (NTNU, HIST and DMMH). ANSA is an organization that may also be at service to get abroad. |
