Every year thousands of new students arrive in Trondheim. The allocation of international students is done by the Office of international relations at NTNU. Unfortunately, the Office of international relations cannot allocate room for everybody in the student villages. Exchange students from countries outside of the EU/EEA are guaranteed housing due to visa regulations. Students from within the EU/EEA will be informed when their application to an exchange programme has been processed.  It might be useful to check out NTNU's web sites on how the allocation process works. Approximately 160 international students will stay at Persaunet, with shared bedrooms (1 - 2 persons) and shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. However, if you have not been allocated housing through the Office of international relations, there are several possibilities on the private market and various services that we at StudiebyEN can provide to get you safely started on your search for housing.

For students

We strongly recommend that you start looking for a place to live as early as possible. The situation can be quite chaotic when everybody arrives in Trondheim at the same time in August. No need to despair! We can assure you that you will find a place to live and if you haven't found a place before you come to Trondheim you can always check in at Roof Over Your Head for temporary accommodation (dormitories) for the first few weeks. Our experience is that everybody finds suitable accommodation - it may take some time and it may take some effort, but everybody finds a place to live.

For potential landlords

SiT can't provide housing to all students in Trondheim. We are therefore dependent on Trondheim's citizens and their contributions to meet the demands for student housing. We want to help potential landlords by making it easier to rent out to students. We also want to get in contact with persons who'd like to assist by providing rooms in their home for an international student.
