Trondheim is one of the most versatile cities in Norway when it comes to student sports associations. In fact, the largest sports association in Norway is in Trondheim - and it is run by and for students.


Student sports associations

NTNUI - the sports association for students at NTNU. NTNUI is Norways largest and most versatile sports association, and offers more than 50 different activities. NTNUI has over 12000 members, and all students at NTNU may join. As a member of NTNUI you also get access to the sports and fitness centers which are run by SiT. For more information about NTNUI, visit NTNUI's homepage.

HiSSI - the sports association for students at HiST. HiSSI is the gathering place for students at HiST who wants to be actie during their student life. We mostly offer team sports, but it is also possible to walk/run/swim/cycle for HiSSI. All students at HiST may join HiSSI. For more information, please visit this webpage (only available in Norwegian).


Sports centres

SiT - the student welfare organisation in Trondheim currently has to sports centres available for students in Trondheim. In addition to these, two new traning facilities - Portalen training center and an outdoor facility in "Høgskoledalen" - will be ready in the fall of 2011.

Excisting centres:

Idrettsbygget Gløshaugen offers a wide range of activities, including shooting, aerobic, rumbling, work out areas and team sports.

Dragvoll idrettssenter has three squash fields, a climbing area, aerobic, yoga and a wide range of organised / competitive sports.

New facilities:

Gløshaugen idrettspark - the outdoors facility will be ready when the fall semester 2011 starts. This facility will include a full size football pitch in artificial grass, four beach volleyball courts and a street basketball pitch.

SiT Idrett Portalen is SiTs newest training center. It is located at Solsiden - in walking distance from Trondheim city centre. It is due to be opened in the end of september. The center is aproximately 2000 square meters, and will offer activities such as spinning, yoga, aerobic, group training and work out areas.

Information about prices for membership cards can be found here. (Webpage is in Norwegian, because new prices for the fall of 2011 is not updated at the English webpage.) Students at NTNU will automatically become members of NTNUI when they buy a membership card at SiTs sports centres.
